2026.03.0300:30:00UTC+00South Korea’s Factory Activity Holds in Expansion as PMI Edges to 51.1 in February

South Korea’s manufacturing sector remained in expansionary territory in February, with the S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) coming in at 51.1, just below January’s 51.2 reading. The latest figure suggests that factory activity continued to grow, though with slightly less momentum than in the previous month.

The February 2026 print marks a second consecutive month above the 50.0 threshold, which separates expansion from contraction. While the marginal dip from January’s level indicates a modest cooling, the data still point to ongoing resilience in South Korea’s industrial sector at the start of the year.

The updated figures, released on 3 March 2026, will be closely watched by markets and policymakers as they assess the durability of the manufacturing upswing and its potential support for broader economic growth in the months ahead.
